Kaptein Brandt Original Sauce – This is a mild mango peri-peri sauce for anyone who doesn’t often use a hot sauce.

In the early nineteen hundreds, Captain Jan Brandt went to Lourenco Marques to put his gold on a ship. At the port he meets Vasco Da Gama and they quickly become pals. As a gift, Vasco gives Jan a bottle of his Peri Peri sauce. Jan really enjoyed the little bottle of warmth and then started making plans to make his own sauce. On the way back home near Hectorspruit, on Annie Louw’s farm, he gets the most delicious big mangoes as a gift. At his home in Kaapschehoop, he comes up with a brilliant plan to put mangoes in his hot sauce and Voila! Captain Brandt’s unique Mango Peri Peri sauce was born. The captain and his pals enjoy it with their slab of steak when they barbecue.
